We stayed at Denali National Park several days. There is plenty here to do for outdoor enthusiasts. You can actually hike and camp through backcountry sections of the park if you choose. The Wilderness Access Centre provides permits for access to specific sectors of the park. Because preserving the ecosystem and keeping the wildlife wild is their number one priority, rangers limit how many people can be in any one area at a time. The photo below shows the road leading into/through the park.

While I was waiting for a bus one day I watched the backcountry camping video with a room full of earnest young backpackers. After watching all the things you have to do with yourself and your food to minimize the potential of a grizzly bear attack; let’s just say I’ll stick to sleeping in my hard-sided van.
